About a week ago, we headed off on a date to Domacin Wine Bar & Restaurant in Stillwater, MN. We had been there couple years ago on a Christmas date, but I was excited to return. This place reminds me of a French bistro and the most cozy neighborhood wine bar. It is a place I could sit and linger in for hours.
We have learned this past year that due to reduced seating capacities in most restaurants it is imperative to have reservations particularly at weekends. I love when eateries offer online reservations. It just is the most convenient and gives me peace of mind. Domacin offers an online reservation system that worked great and also had text reminders.
Before we went to dinner, we took a little stroll around Stillwater. If you haven't visited this quaint town, it is worth it. The whole town sits by the river and offers cute shops, lots of fun places to eat, and charming old buildings.
After our stroll, we ventured over to Domacin. We had a beautiful window seat table and the service was great. They offer an extensive beverages menu. My hubby and I are wine lovers, so it was a tough call....
The menu below is only a small sampling of the drinks menu. They had a full folder full of other choices that was pages long. My husband went with the red wine flight and I sent with the rose special of the night. We LOVED BOTH.
I think flights are always a great option because you get to sample three things and they are usually more affordable than buying a bottle or two separate drinks.
Many wine bars offer snacks and appetizers; however, I think that one of Domacin's strengths is that they offer a beautiful environment with lots of amazing wines AND dinner options.
I love the cheese boards here...let's be honest I love a cheese board any time I can grab one. But, I find the one here to be exceptionally tasty and amazing. Also, I don't know of anything I love more than wine and cheese pairings.
I think my favorite thing on the cheese plate was the goat cheese with fruit on the far right of the picture. It was amazing.
For our main course, I went with a bacon salad and Chuck went with shrimp and grits (something he likes to sample everywhere we go).
Both dishes were wonderful. This is truly the perfect date night spot. Like I said, I could linger there for hours and it makes me feel like I have taken a little trip to Paris. I would give it five stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun spot with a European vibe.
